"In my early years, it was my mother who encouraged me to read and try to write; then two of my aunts, both English teachers, piled on the pressure! I was a voracious reader of books. I read anything and everything in my teens. When I travelled the country singing in bands, my love of the music kept me going through the hard times. All those hours squeezed together in a van plus a ton of equipment either sends you over to the dark side or you find something in a situation that makes you laugh. I chose laughter. I never found time to start writing until I was in my mid-sixties, and I was determined that my books would always feature music and comedy, along with the murders."
