Bio:
Eva Maclean read her first Agatha Christie (Death in the Clouds) at age ten and has been obsessed with detective fiction and writing ever since. She began writing in her late teens, in the days when submissions to agents had to be made in large brown envelopes accompanied by a stamped addressed envelope, in which the dog-eared pile of paper would eventually be returned. In return she duly received a number of written and signed rejection slips, sadly none of them retained. It was clearly time to give up and concentrate on the day job.
She spent her working life as an accountant and technical writer, which didn’t quite satisfy the urge to write, so now she is finally doing what she wanted to do in the first place.
Eva lives in London with her husband and two cats, her children having grown up and made good their escape. She still works part-time marking exam papers and, apart from reading, her main displacement activity is swimming.
Her favourite living authors are Kate Atkinson, Donna Leon and Mick Herron. The dead are too many to count.
