The inspiration for An Utterly Unsuitable Lady was the notorious case in the 1860s of a rich man who fooled an innocent young woman into a fraudulent marriage before abandoning her without a penny. Could a happy life be salvaged from such wreckage?
Lucy also writes Edwardian mysteries under the pen name of Fran Smith. She lives with her husband, dog and chickens on the edge of the fens near Cambridge, England.
